Indiana University defines Cyber Infrastructure as computing systems, data storage systems, advanced instruments and data repositories, visualization environments, and people, all linked by high speed networks to make possible scholarly innovation and discoveries not otherwise possible. In my own words, a cyber infrastructure is all technological means of communicating with each other online and the endless amounts of data that we can learn from each other. In relation to this, in class we viewed a photo of people glued to their phones that formed a lawn with people running a lawn mower over their heads. As grotesque this description may sound, the image brings up an important idea that maybe we are too glued to our phones and we are simply forming the base of information and the top is us being cut off from the rest of society. In any sense, I believe the photo to be very interesting and easily relatable to the world today where people are constantly being more attached to their phones in social situations.
